Rodin: A Magnificent Obsession

Where: Mobile Museum of Art (4850 Museum Dr. in Langan Park)

Auguste Rodin is one of Western Civilization’s most acclaimed artists and his realistic and kinetic masterpieces paved the way to modern sculpture despite the widespread criticism of his Nineteenth Century contemporaries. His brooding masterpiece, “The Thinker” represents for many a transcendence beyond the mythological and into the essence of humanity.

This exhibition of 68 of his bronze works is made possible by the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation and ranges from monumental pieces to maquettes and includes photos, works on paper and various documents.

Museum hours are Mon – Sat, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sun, 1 – 5 p.m. Entrance is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and military, $6 for students and group rates are available.
