Southern Gothic Now
Where: Space 301 Off Centre

When: May 9 – July 6
Mixed feelings will abound when this show opens the night of the May LoDa Artwalk. The show promises to be another provocative show as has become common since the arrival of curator Clayton Colvin. Sadly, this will be Colvin’s last show in that role as he is relocating to Birmingham.
Colvin will deliver a gallery talk at the 6 p.m. onset of the opening reception. Six of the artists will be in attendance and the exhibit even features some interactive electronic work.
Gallery hours are Wed – Sat, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sun, noon – 5 p.m.

Willy Russell’s 1983 work about nature vs. nurture has won awards on both sides of the Atlantic and now comes to Midtown. The tale of twins separated at birth takes one child onward to a life of prestige while his brother hits the skids and does prison time. The siblings become rivals and tumble toward a tragedy worthy of a Greek amphitheatre.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays with Sunday matinees beginning at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $17, $14 for seniors and $10 for students.
For more info, call 251-433-7513 or go to www.mobiletheatreguild.org.
