Most of us have been riveted by the disaster in Haiti and the efforts of the Red Cross to aid in every way possible. Now you can help out this worthy agency and fill your cultural yen all at the same time.

This Thursday performance of the musical comedy “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” will be unique in that not only will there be light hors d’oeuvres but a portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Alabama Gulf Coast Chapter. Entrance is $25.

Seventeen members of the Bay Area Art Educators have pooled the talent of their students together to form the latest show in the Skinny Gallery at the MAC offices in downtown. The students represent 29 public and private schools at all levels and their appropriately “Valentined” show will remain in place throughout Feb. 26.

An opening reception takes place during the LoDa Artwalk on Feb. 12.

The gallery is open Mon – Fri, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is free.

Ironic that a feast for the eyes can be used to help the sight-impaired but that’s the scenario at the end of the month. Edelman Fine Arts will host a show featuring more than 500 original oil paintings in various styles and other art on paper (including works by Chagall, Durer, Max, Neiman, Picasso, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rockwell, Turner and others). Proceeds benefit the Mobile Association for the Blind.

Saturday’s show is at Five Rivers from noon – 5 p.m. and Sunday’s event takes place at Daugherty’s Gallery.
