Resting on the side of Airport Boulevard., Cockeyed Charlie’s is one of West Mobile’s favorite watering holes. On the weekends, Cockeyed Charlie’s features some of the Azalea City’s best local bands. Those who have not experienced Cockeyed Charlie’s will have a good excuse to head west and sample some local alternative metal.
Nappie Award winners Love the Hate will be performing the band’s original catalog. Last June, Love the Hate released the band’s latest single “Solid Ground.” Pulling influence from bands such as Disturbed, Seether and Chevelle, “Solid Ground” combines a versatile instrumental arrangement with excellent production and a passionate lyrical delivery. This rocking concoction should translate well in the live setting.
Faking Solace will be opening for Love the Hate. The band’s two singles provide a great representation of Faking Solace’s creative foundation. “Contingency Plan” has overtones of Korn’s early work without all the rage and roar. Faking Solace’s other single “Battle of Two” really highlights the band’s attention to its craft. Filled with intricate triplets, “Battle of Two” is an intense ballad that shines with both instrumental and lyrical syncopation.
