Soul Kitchen will be glammed-out with the return of a local favorite from across the pond. Once again, The Struts will invade the Azalea City with an arsenal of new school glam rock. This fiery quartet is on tour in support of their latest album, “Strange Days.” For this release, The Struts truly immersed themselves in a creative environment with producer Jon Levine, who worked with the band on their sophomore album, “Young & Dangerous.” While tracking “Strange Days,” the band spent 10 days “couch-crashing” at Levine’s residence. They emerged with the slow, emotional title track as the opener, where British crooner Robbie Williams adds his magic. “All Dressed Up” pulls Struts fans back to the group’s bold, stomping mix of glam rock and glam metal.
The Struts channel KISS with a cover of “Do You Love Me” from the iconic album “Destroyer.” With Def Leppard’s Phil Collen and Joe Elliot lending their talents, “I Hate How Much I Want You” is rowdy glam rock at its finest. With “Strange Days” being such an ambitious and dramatic album, The Struts’ live show should be an exhilarating experience.
Atlanta’s Starbenders will be starting the party with their co-ed glam rock. Since its debut in 2016, with “Heavy Petting,” the band has been in a state of rock-and-roll evolution with new material showcasing fresh rock sounds steeped in the classics.
Pulling influences from Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Suzi Quatro, lead singer/guitarist Kimi Shelter’s vocals remain a constant. Hailing from the same realm as Blue Oyster Cult, Starbenders’ fuzzy new single “No One Listened” is sure to be a crowd pleaser at Soul Kitchen.
