A day on the Delta with Jimmy

The Easter bunny came and went, but not before dropping all kinds of eggs around Boozie’s lair. And these eggs were not of the Cadbury-crème variety, but rather full of tasty pop culture tidbits for you to consume along with your leftover chocolate rabbits. I picked these eggs up and put them in my basket and now I will hide them right on this page, so you can find them. Don’t worry, it won’t be hard. Just keep reading! Maybe you’ll find the golden egg! It has a gift certificate for a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza inside! You’re welcome!

Native son returns

One of Mobile’s most famous natives sons, Jimmy Buffett, played at The Wharf on Tuesday night to a sold-out crowd. But before doing that, he took a little trip on the Delta with local guide Jimbo Meador.

“No better guide in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta than Jimbo Meador. Master naturalist, legendary waterman and storyteller… friend for over 40 years. Today was a great day,” Buffett shared on Instagram, along with some pretty neat photos from their trip. Definitely check his Instagram page out. All the photos of him doing cool things involving blue-green water will kind of make you hate yourself for not penning, “Wasted away again in Margaritaville.”

Grand Bay’s Rod Stokes advances on “The Voice”

Moss Point native and current Grand Bay resident Rod Stokes advanced on “The Voice” last week during the “cross battles” on the show. Stokes was originally on Blake Shelton’s team, but was stolen by Adam Levine after losing a “battle round.” As a member of Team Adam he sang the classic “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” and battled Maelyn Jarmon from John Legend’s team, who sang Tears for Fears’ “Mad World.” The cross battles were determined by votes and Jarmon won that round, but once again Stokes was stolen. This time by Kelly Clarkson, who told Stokes, “I think you are so talented.” Stokes moves into the Top 24 and will appear again on the NBC show on April 29. Go Rod! We don’t care whose team you are on – just keep moving on!

Well, kids, that’s all I got. Just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous or some plain ol’ Team Rod Stokes lovin’, I will be there. Ciao!
