The Trongone Band is bringing a powerful mix of Southern and roots rock from Richmond, Virginia, to the oak-covered streets of the OGD. When the band first started, The Trongone Band featured brothers Andrew and Johnny Trongone along with their father.
Now, the lineup boasts the Trongone brothers with keyboardist Ben “Wolfe” White and bassist Chip Hale. Together, this group has crafted a welcome embrace of Southern sounds influenced by bands such as The Allman Brothers Band and The Black Crowes.
“Keys to the House” is the debut full-length from The Trongone Band. For this endeavor, the group entered Richmond’s Montrose Recording, with Dave Schools (Widespread Panic) acting as producer. The overall sonic warmth flowing throughout this album is reminiscent of The Black Crowes’ classic album “Southern Harmony and Musical Companion.”
Otherwise, The Trongone Band are adding to the true legacy of Southern rock by maintaining a firm footing on the rock side of things. With sweeping arrangements, poignant vocals and beautiful keyboard work, The Trongone Band’s first effort leaves listeners wanting more.
