Barstow Revival has chosen the Azalea City’s favorite neighborhood pub to give patrons a live taste of the group’s new studio material. This group brings together the musical talents of two Fairhope songwriters.
Jay Megginson was relatively new to the songwriting game when he met Drew Howard. Howard relocated from Austin where he spent time as a seasoned hired gun. An impromptu gig brought the two together, and they have been playing their “eclectic, soulful, psychedelic Americana” music ever since.
Barstow Revival’s EP “Road” is its first offering to the masses. Megginson and Howard took an organic, minimalist approach to the five tracks featured on “Road.” The duo opted to let their guitars maintain the rhythm throughout the album. However, layers of strings and vocal harmonies compensate for the lack of percussion.
This EP’s mix of folk and traditional country provide a definitive, modern Americana sound at a time when the label has been stretched to its limits by the music industry.
