Callaghan’s could definitely be considered Mobile’s home for Americana. From folk to country, this intimate venue nestled under Oakleigh’s namesake canopy has evolved into a popular stop for a number of notable, nationally touring Americana musical acts. Callaghan’s musical repertoire is just one of the many reasons that the people chose Callaghan’s as their favorite venue in the 2014 Nappie Awards.
Bluegrass Night will be a perfect opportunity to experience Callaghan’s in its prime with Eldon Bryson, a true master of the strings whose obsession with all stringed instruments has earned him proficiency into everything from fiddles to guitars.
Nappie Award winner Ben Jernigan will join this circle as well as Cassidy Koonce and a true student of Americana, Phil Proctor, who is ready to lend his guitar and knowledge of the genre to the mix. Pat Murphy and Benita Averett Murphy will complete this homespun conglomeration of local talent. Co-creators of the “delta bluegrass” sound, the Murphys are best known for their work in the band Delta Reign.
