The SouthSounds Music Festival brought a surplus of Southeastern musical acts to the Azalea City. As Sunday evening brought this event to a close, the Callaghan’s crowd was reeling in a wave of music out of NOLA.
Andrew Duhon and his band had no problem captivating his audience with his Big Easy acoustic sounds. As a solo artist, Duhon has earned many fans in Mobile. However, his trio performance only amplified the local love he has found. Duhon must have noticed the energy during his SouthSounds performance, because he is bringing the trio back to the OGD with sounds from his Grammy nominated album “The Moorings.”
“The Moorings” is the sophomore full-length from Duhon. The singer-songwriter found local guidance with producer/engineer Trina Shoemaker. Duhon has inundated his music with literary qualities on par with the most seasoned author. “The Moorings” is a collection of poetic narratives that mingle surreal images with sonic beauty.
Duhon takes his listener on a ride with “Tandem Bike” and fills the mind with images of the inhabitants of Magazine Street on any given night. “The Moorings” also has a habit of touching the heart with songs such as the album’s title track and “Rest On Her Shoulders.”
