There’s a lot more to an exhibit than loading a truck with works then mounting them in a gallery. The curatorial selection is vital, yet something many attendees never consider.
Now you can get an inside glimpse at the process when Mobile Museum of Art curator Donan Klooz takes visitors behind the scenes of the Katharine C. Cochrane Gallery. Klooz will talk about the selections and reasoning, plus be open to any questions.
How does the collection reflect the culture in America, the South and the world? When did furniture become art? What do we know now that makes the art significant, but that the artists didn’t foresee when they crafted the pieces?
This is part of the free Thursday programs at the museum.
