Situated in the Tensaw River Delta, Historic Blakeley State Park was a river community during the 19th Century. The area was also the site of the last battle of the Civil War. Since then, the area has become a retreat for those wanting to immerse themselves in a local natural setting. It is also the home of the Gatra Wehle Nature Center. With its rich history and natural beauty, the park is the perfect setting for their annual bluegrass festival.
Bluegrass enthusiasts are invited to enjoy a heaping helping of pickin’ and grinnin’ in the midst of 400 acres of oak trees. The Kracker Dan Minstrel Band is scheduled to make their return to the festival. This group is an “authentic period band” that specializes in music from the French and Indian War through The Great Depression.
Bluegrass trio Alabama Gentlemen is sure to pluck their way into the hearts of those in attendance. Unknown Bluegrass will be making their first appearance, and there are plans to add a fourth band to the line-up.
