Band: Blues Tavern’s 22nd Anniversary & Grand Opening
Date: Saturday, June 12 at noon
Venue: Blues Tavern, 2605 Halls Mill Road, 251-479-4621
For over two decades, the Blues Tavern has maintained its reputation for being “Mobile’s Blues Room.” Over the years, this venue has hosted a number of impressive blues acts on its stage. Blues Tavern has played host to modern blues legends such as James “Super Chikan” Johnson, Smokehouse Porter & Miss Mamie, Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton, Tas Cru and many, many more disciples of the blues. In recent years, the venue’s Monday night open mic (hosted by Al and Tarleton McNab) has become a popular weekly event that allows local amateurs to jam freely alongside some of the Azalea City’s finest musicians.
This weekend Blues Tavern will not only be honoring its 22nd anniversary of bringing blues to the Azalea City, but it will also be celebrating the grand opening of its new location on Halls Mill Road. Curious patrons who have ventured into the new location during its soft opening have experienced a bigger room, a bigger stage and a bigger dance floor set amongst attractive decor that maintains the attitude of the former location.
The Blue Tavern’s celebration will be a chance for the public to witness these changes for themselves. While the day’s full lineup was yet to be released at press time, Mississippi’s Rock Bottom will be headlining with a batch of crowd favorites and blues standards. In addition, this party will feature food, fun and live music that will last from noon until the wee hours the following day.
