Band: Blues Tavern 20th Anniversary
Date: Saturday, May 11 at 11 a.m.
Venue: Blues Tavern, 2818 Government Blvd., 251-479-7621
The Blues Tavern has spent the past two decades bringing the Azalea City night after night of free musical entertainment. Along the way, Blues Tavern was named by Southern Living as the Southeast’s best place to get the blues.
Legendary modern blues legends that have graced this venue’s stage include James “Super Chikan” Johnson, Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton, Tas Cru & His Band of Tortured Souls, Biscuit Miller & The Mix and many others. However, Blues Tavern’s dedication to supporting local blues talent serves as the centerpiece for this anniversary celebration.
Longtime Blues Tavern favorite Johnny Barbato & the Lucky Doggs will provide one of the day’s most memorable sets. Newcomers Al Mahan & The Smoking Section will fill Blues Tavern will fiery, harmonica-fueled blues. “Ghost Man” Ric McNaughton’s impeccable work on the fret board will not want to be missed. John Hall Band will get things rowdy with its Southern rock infused blues. Doobious has a set of crowd favorites for Blues Tavern’s music-hungry crowd. Birmingham prog blues powerhouse Royal & Toulouse will be the lineup’s out-of-town company.
