According to the Mobile Police Department, detectives are investigating two homicides in the last 24 hours — one at Tricentennial Park and the other near a hotel along I-65 Service Road South.
The MPD responded to the first incident at American Inn on the I-65 Service Road after receiving a call a person had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 27-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded, but the victim was pronounced dead on scene. The victim’s identity has yet to be released to the public pending notification of the man’s family.
Hours later, at approximately 9:20 a.m., the body of a 51-year-old female was discovered along the banks of Three Mile Creek at Tricentennial Park. After the discovery, homicide detectives were called in, who have since found evidence of criminal conduct on the scene.
That investigation is active and ongoing.
Police have made no representation the two murders could be related or committed by the same person.
More details about both incidents will be released as that information is made available to the press.
