Once again, Callaghan’s is hosting big venue talent in their intimate confines. The denizens of the Azalea City will be introduced to Houndmouth. These Bonnaroo veterans are bringing their own brand of folk rock infused with soul. Formed three years ago in New Albany, Ind., they began to traverse the country with their unique sound and memorable live delivery , which proved to be quite infectious with their audiences.
They expanded their fanbase with a pristine performance on “Conan” with a track called “On the Road” from their debut “From the Hills Below the City.” This band’s sound is truly unique and provides a different aspect to the neo-soul overtones of modern alt rock. Old school R&B vibes meet the classic country harmonies of keyboardist Katie Toupin and guitarist Matt Myers.
Clear Plastic Masks will be returning to Mobile as Houndmouth’s opener. The last time they rolled through, this band was opening for Alabama Shakes at the Saenger. Another stellar client of Nashville engineer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for Riff Raff), Clear Plastic Masks’ music has conjured the same muses that inspired bands such as The Who and The Rolling Stones in their early days. This is unfiltered rock-and-roll at its finest.
Houndmouth, Clear Plastic Masks
