Before even setting foot on American soil, Australian bluesman C.W. Stoneking already had a legion of dedicated fans. Stoneking spent many days in Australia’s desolate Northern Territory strumming out the tunes that would establish his reputation. Now, he is touring in support of his sixth release, “Gon’ Boogaloo,” which has been receiving love from critics and blues fans alike.
Listening to Stoneking’s new effort, one would think a time-traveling engineer journeyed to ancient days of blues’ beginnings and captured some undiscovered bluesman from the heart of the Mississippi Delta. From vocals to guitar to production, this album is old-school blues at its finest. Stoneking is a master of the gospel-infused blues sound that threatens to be lost to time.
