Mobile Opera is in the midst of a decade-long effort aimed at highlighting the works of the Italian master Giacomo Puccini that culminates in 2022. However, it’s the latest effort that pleases one Mobile Opera staffer most.
“I am very excited to have the Puccini Project back, and especially to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful cast and design team for this ‘Madama Butterfly,’” Artistic Director Andy Anderson said in a news release. “It is one of my favorite operas because of the intensity of the story and the amazing score.”
Anderson will lead interested parties through the tragic turns of the “Butterfly” story, a dramatic work that again rose to popular attention with its central role in the 1987 film thriller “Fatal Attraction.” Attendees are asked to bring a lunch to the free sessions.
