On Sunday, Oakleigh denizens will have a chance to sample the spicy Cajun sounds of Feufollet. Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, the band embraced the sounds of Acadiana in their youth and formed Feufollet in the mid ‘90s. With the Cajun scene consisting of much older musical acts, Feufollet’s acceptance and ensuing popularity guaranteed the musical legacy of South Louisiana will continue into the future.
Feufollet’s album “En Coleurs” was touted by Elvis Costello as “the most beautiful, melodic album” he’d heard that year. It earned a Grammy nomination. The band’s latest album, “Two Universes,” is appropriately named, incorporating folk-rock into Cajun with beautiful results. The track “Hole in My Heart” serves as a perfect example of the Cajun two-step as a refreshing take on the classic genre.
