Amanda Shaw is bringing the sunnyside of the bayou back to the intimate confines of The Listening Room of Mobile. Armed with a fiddle, Shaw has truly crafted a unique style of music filled with elements of modern pop, country and traditional Cajun. She accents this energetic sound with a matching live show.
When Lagniappe last spoke with her, Shaw was getting her fans ready for her latest album, “Please, Call Me Miss Shaw.” This release maintains Shaw’s reputation for creating eclectic sounds that refuse to be labeled. Opening track “Lipstick Stain Blues” features Shaw’s trademark sonic mix while keeping one foot in the rock world.
This album is filled with side roads that lead to songs such as “Dirty Blonde,” which is a psychedelic, country-western trip to the ’50s. Shaw also has no problem pulling a few heartstrings through tracks such as “Holiday” and “Wednesday Night Waltz.”
