Over the years, John Thompson and Richie Sherer have transformed Callaghan’s Irish Social Club from a neighborhood pub nestled under the oaks of the Oakleigh Garden District (OGD) into a venue beloved by patrons and artists alike. Its warm, intimate environment combined with a long list of reputable musical acts led Lagniappe readers to once again vote Callaghan’s “Best Club to See Live Music” in the 2015 Nappie Awards. For those who have yet to experience a Callaghan’s show, the return of Los Colognes will be an excellent excuse to trod through its double doors.
Since its Callaghan’s debut, Los Colognes has enjoyed a steady rise in notoriety on the national scene. The Nashville group featured tracks from its 2013 debut “Working Together” to introduce locals to a nostalgic rock sound drawn from the same muses that inspired greats such as J.J. Cale and Mark Knopfler. With its next album, “Dos,” set for release Sept. 4, the band’s Azalea City fans can expect an evening of new music from this local favorite. Die-hard fans can also catch them the following evening at Manci’s Antique Club in Daphne.
