Band: Second Tuesday Songwriters Night
Date: Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Venue: Picker’s Paradise, 35056 Hwy. 59, 937-0511
Many view Stapleton as just a flashing light on Hwy. 59 in Baldwin County. For local string enthusiasts, this small community is home to one of the area’s most iconic music stores. Picker’s Paradise is Baldwin County’s capital of stringed instruments ranging from electric guitars to fiddles. In past years, Picker’s Paradise also used a Sunday porch jam session to instill a sense of community among local musicians.
While the Sunday jam sessions may have ended, Picker’s Paradise is creating community and inspiring creativity through its Second Tuesday Songwriter’s Night. Local musicians are invited to gather within Picker’s Paradise to showcase their original material before an audience of peers.
Owner Andy MacDonald has said that local songwriters have provided all types of sounds including folk, country, bluegrass and novelty on instruments ranging from guitars to ukeleles. Songwriters Night has also attracted local talent including Zachary Thomas Diedrich and Joey F*ckstick (The F’n A-Holes). Those wanting to participate should prepare three songs and simply sign-up for a spot.
