The forum on race relations in Mobile scheduled for today has been postponed, Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s office announced Tuesday.
Stimpson’s office made the move to allow organizers more time to develop the format and agenda for the event. More specific information about the time and location of the forum will be provided later, along with more details about the agenda, according to a statement from the city.
Stimpson announced the forum titled “Moving Forward: An Honest Conversation about Race in Mobile,” on May 30. Mobile United has since stepped up to help develop an ongoing initiative aimed at promoting unity in Mobile.
“Truly inclusive and prosperous communities aren’t built in a day,” Stimpson said in the statement. “My hope is that this won’t be a one-time conversation, but rather the first of many steps toward One Mobile.”
