While SouthSounds 2016 was dominated by indie sounds, Mobile’s Coleman-Mason Band used the Lagniappe Mobile Bay Showcase to display its Southern-fried, homegrown blues rock. Drew Nix (guitar), James Martin (guitar), Turner Mason (guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), Ray Childers (drums) and Brandon Coleman won over the crowd with a set filled with wailing traditional blues marked by intricate work on electric guitar. The Coleman-Mason Band proved a notable standout.
Coleman-Mason Band’s live show is filled with Southern rock and blues standards, but this live show will feature original compositions as well. Recently the band has been promoting its single, “Lover Boy Blues,” on social media. This rich studio footage captures this band’s immense blues sound with roaring vocals, mingled with weeping guitar.
