August is an infamously sizzling month along the Gulf Coast. This year, the heat seems to be more oppressive than usual. Thankfully, Big Beach Brewing has plenty of shade, cold brews and great music as a remedy for the misery.
This local craft brewery will be entertaining its patrons with a performance from Electric Blue Yonder. This four-piece band hails from Montgomery and specializes in a trademark sound they call “American Space Folk.” According to the band, this sound is noted for its “influences of ’60s and ’70s psychedelia and folk-rock steeped in the Deep South.”
Over the past year, Electric Blue Yonder has been spreading their sound through the release of three singles: “Children of the Sun,” “False Prophets” and “Bluster.” These acoustic-based tunes drift through an ethereal dream world filled with two-part harmonies, creating a mellow ambiance that mesmerizes listeners.
Throughout these tracks, Electric Blue Yonder peppers each track with warm doses of sliding guitar work. From folk to jam to rock, this eclectic style should be appealing to a variety of musical tastes. Fans of My Morning Jacket and/or Fleet Foxes are sure to find a new regional favorite in Electric Blue Yonder.
