In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Mobile County Street Enforcement Narcotics Team (MCSENT) made a significant bust that led the recovery of drugs, money and weapons.
According to police, in the predawn hours, a search warrant was executed near the 700 block of Marine Street. There, officers seized over two ounces of cocaine, approximately 24 ounces of “high grade” marijuana, codeine syrup and hydrocodone amongst other drug paraphernalia. Officers also confiscated a .357 handgun, ammo, a scale, a vehicle and more than $33,000 in cash during the raid, which led to a single arrest.According to police, 24-year-old Joel Chess was arrested on several charges including trafficking a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Mobile County Jail records, this is Chess’ first run in with the law in Mobile County. He was booked into jail in the early hours on Tuesday morning and was still listed in police custody as of 5 p.m.
