92 ZEW’s Countdown to Hangout concert series has spent the past several weeks quenching the Gulf Coast’s thirst for live music on the beach. The ZEW has chosen Civil Twilight as this week’s headliner, who arrives by way of Cape Town, South Africa. In a time where the overuse of synthesizer is becoming cliché, Civil Twilight does a superior job incorporating this instrument into their brand of rock, which draws comparisons to Mutemath. The quartet will entertain the crowd with sounds from their album “Story of an Immigrant.”
This show will mark the second-to-last-week of the “Reach the Beach” competition, which will earn one lucky band a set at Hangout Fest 2015. Birmingham’s Lake Lyon will be charming the judges with tracks from their full-length “Fernweh.” The crowd can expect a fusion of rock and reggae from the Iron City. As they compete for a spot at Hangout Fest, Lake Lyon is sure to give those in attendance their top performance.
