Tillis Brett, co-founder of the Brett/Robinson real estate firm, died Monday at a Mobile hospital. Brett suffered a medical emergency on Saturday, according to a spokesman for the firm.
Brett formed Brett Real Estate, Robinson Development Co. Inc. around 1970 with his brother Gene and Tommy Robinson. He started Brett Real Estate with Gene with just $500 during the 1960s.
Tillis was the original broker for Brett/Robinson and oversaw the sale of more 3,400 Phoenix condominium units, as well as more than 10,000 resales. He also oversaw the development of more than 1,000 acres including 30 subdivisions, mostly in Saraland.
Brett was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the last graduating class of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn) in 1959.
Arrangements for Brett had not been finalized Tuesday.
