Police say a husband shot his wife during a domestic dispute in midtown Mobile Tuesday night.
According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to a home on the 2000 block of Old Shell Road shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday night in response to reports of a shooting. Police say a female victim on the scene had been shot by her husband, William Brutkeiwicz, 59.
The shooting drew a large police response in the highly trafficked area and the Mobile Fire Rescue Department was dispatched as well. A spokesperson from MFRD said the victim was shot once in the arm. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
On the scene, Brutkeiwicz was detained and handcuffed for some time before being taken back to the house, where he appeared to be speaking with responding officers.
Investigators were also seen inside the house taking photographs, presumably of where the shooting occurred.
Brutkeiwicz was eventually taken into custody, though police say their investigation is ongoing.
Mobile Metro Jail records indicate Brutkeiwicz was charged with second-degree domestic violence around 11 p.m. and was still in custody as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.
