Band: Drake Freeman Band
Date: Saturday, July 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Venue: Big Beach Brewing Company, 300 E. 24th Ave., bigbeachbrewing.com
Even though the Fourth of July falls on a Thursday, many will choose to extend this patriotic celebration into the weekend, especially in Gulf Shores. Big Beach Brewing Company will be accenting its locally brewed fare with a performance from the Drake Freeman Band.
Freeman’s musical experience stretches back into his childhood. After picking up the guitar at 9, Freeman pulled inspiration from artists such as Tom Petty, Duane Allman and John Mayer. From there, he mastered a variety of instruments ranging from the mandolin to the viola. Freeman now spends his days working his way through the Nashville scene.
Freeman spent 2018 releasing two EPs. “Hurricane” and “Four Years” are showcases of his mix of Southern rock and alt. country with a touch of blues and folk laid in the foundation. All the while, each measure is filled with thoughtful lyrics fueled by Freeman’s perceptions of life.
Fans of Blackberry Smoke will especially find a connection with his music.
