Authorities blocked off a portion of Royal Street on Tuesday and evacuated the former federal courthouse in downtown Mobile to investigate a suspicious truck parked right in front of the building.
Building employees were standing near the back of the building, while members of Mobile police and federal authorities investigated the truck and searched for its owner. A source on the scene said the truck had been there since Sunday, which is what drew law enforcement’s attention to it.
As of 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Mobile Executive Director of Public Safety Lawrence Battiste said authorities were able to locate the owner of the Ryder truck. Authorities performed a sweep and found nothing unusual, he said.
