The City of Gulf Shores, the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism invite the public to come celebrate one of the Gulf Coast’s favorite crustaceans. Waterway Village will be hosting the Fifth Annual Waterway Village Zydeco & Crawfish Festival. The fun will begin with a 5K run. Afterward, organizers will begin seasoning the air with a number of boiling pots filled with crawfish and all the fixings. The festival will also feature art vendors and the inaugural Little Miss Zydeco pageant.
The crowd will also experience festive tunes that should be the perfect complement to this event. Mobile’s Excelsior Band’s Mardi Gras brass sound will fill the air throughout the day. New-school zydeco superstars Rusty Metoyer and Zydeco Krush will deliver a musical gumbo filled with zydeco, rock and blues. Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers will bring a modern zydeco sound that has electrified crowds from the Bayou Classic to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. With a last name synonymous with zydeco, Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers will get the crowd two-stepping with its set. Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band and Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws are also scheduled to keep the party going with their respective Acadian sounds.
