Cedar Street Social Club will fill its walls with downhome sounds from the Azalea City. Bluegrass Night at this downtown venue will feature the wild sounds of Fat Man Squeeze. Since 2003, this group has been using its bluegrass repertoire to pick their way into the hearts of the denizens of Mobile. However, those unfamiliar with Fat Man Squeeze’s sounds should not expect their granddaddy’s bluegrass.
Guitarist Andy MacDonald, bassist Katrina Kolb (also of The Krickets) and mandolin player Kevin Harrison will hit the crowd with Fat Man Squeeze’s unique interpretations of bluegrass standards. However, the crowd will not want to miss the band’s original tracks such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Walmart Song.” As far as the live show is concerned, Fat Man Squeeze features an impressive onslaught of stringwork. The trio matches this instrumental prowess with a never-ending supply of energy, which they share with the audience.
