St. Patrick’s Day is one of the Azalea City’s most beloved holidays. When March 17 falls, the streets of Mobile are filled with a mob of raucous revelers clad in green, who seek out their favorite watering hole to satisfy their lust for green beer and corned beef hash.
Many cities have decided that one St. Patty’s celebration each year is not satisfactory. To remedy this desire, many pubs have adopted St. Practice Day, which is a holiday dedicated to those wanting a green fix halfway to St. Patty’s Day. O’Daly’s is the first Irish pub to celebrate St. Practice Day, and they will fill the day with green beer and excellent musical entertainment.
In this installment, New Orleans will be invading LoDa. Maggie Koener will be first in the lineup. This Big Easy songbird has been opening for Galactic. With a voice full of sultry soul, Koener should have no problem capturing the crowd with cuts from her latest album “Neutral Ground.”
The Revivalists will follow Koener. The Azalea City has watched as this seven-piece sonic behemoth has grown in popularity worldwide, and these Hangout Fest veterans have no shortage of local fans. When it comes to their sound, The Revivalists have created an aural balance between grooving funk and soulful rock, which can be experienced on their latest release “City of Sound.”
Mobile’s Disciples of the Crow will finish off the day with a midnight set. With their mix of originals and covers, DOTC has become one of the city’s most popular rock outfits. Their sounds should be a perfect finale for this evening of debauchery.
