Remy Zero guitarist Jeffrey Cain has spent the past few years giving back to the music community that nurtured him. His Birmingham-based label Communicating Vessels has signed regional bands and showcased them to the world, many through Mobile’s SouthSounds festival. Now, Communicating Vessels is sending another ambassador as Future Elevators travels to the OGD for an evening of music from The Magic City.
Michael Shackleford is the creative foundation of Future Elevators. This multi-instrumentalist conceived the project’s sound in his home studio in Birmingham. He will be performing in support of Future Elevator’s new self-titled release. This talented artist has taken the indie pop sound and honed in on the indie side of things. The genre’s trademark synth floats gently through songs such as “Modern World.” “Machine Maker” adds new context to indie pop with its subtle if not minimal use of electric keys.
