With Hangout Festival 2015 headliner Beck snagging Album of the Year (away from Kanye West, literally) and Paramore taking home Best Rock Song for “Ain’t It Fun” at this year’s Grammy Awards, the highly anticipated summer festival picked up some momentum, and it seemed like the current lineup couldn’t get any sweeter — but it just did.
The Hangout Beach, Music and Arts Festival this morning officially released the second installment of artists slated to play this year’s festival, scheduled for May 15-17 on the beaches of Gulf Shores.
Among the bigger-name artists announced is English singer-songwriter Sam Smith, who rose to international fame with the hit “Stay With Me” from his album “In The Lonely Hour.” The 22-year-old pop star also recently picked up four Grammy awards this past Sunday for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album.
Joining him on the beach will be Tove Lo, another artist who has been dominating the radio airwaves as of late. While the name may not sound familiar right away, the Swedish artist’s 2013 electropop single “Habits (Stay High)” has been getting some serious playtime on all the local radio stations and last year reached No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100.
As one of the newcomers to the scene, Sylvan Esso has garnered their fair share of attention too this year, and though the electronic, indie-pop duo just released their self-titled debut album last May, they’ve been making large strides in the music world and descending on the masses with sold-out shows and hitting big stages across the nation. But, they aren’t stopping there — already on their schedule this year is Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch and now Hangout Fest.
Other acts named today for the 2015 festival are Joey Bada$$, Deap Vally, Jeff The Brotherhood, SNBRN, Natural Child, Floating Action, Firekid and Elliot Root.
Tickets are on sale now through the Hangout Fest website, with weekend passes at $249, VIP tickets $1,099 and Super VIP passes at $1,599. Travel packages are also available. For more information and the entire 2015 lineup, visit www.hangoutmusicfest.com.
