Mardi Gras in the Azalea City is filled with traditions, and Grayson Capps’ Joe Cain Day performance at Callaghan’s has become a beloved tradition for many Mobilians. After the madness of the Joe Cain Day procession, this singer-songwriter keeps spirits high with a performance that tends to fill the corner of Charleston and Marine. Capps satisfies his audience with favorites such as “Poison” and “Ol’ Slac,” his musical tribute to the namesake.
Capps will also entertain the crowd with tracks from his latest release, “Scarlett Roses.” Instead of forcing the creation process, the singer-songwriter chose to let the tracks on this album flow naturally. This technique resulted in nine tracks that perpetuate Capps’ raw sonic interpretation of reality set to a musical style that mixes warm folk with country twang.
