TexarBama BBQ’s combination of barbecue and live music seems to be a winner with locals, especially at the climax of barbecue season. This time, TexarBama is adding a little GypsySpark to its recipe.
This trio features local singer-songwriters Jimmy Lumpkin (Jimmy Lumpkin & The Revival, Trigger Root) and Brenda Bledsoe (also on flute), with Talia Lumpkin on percussion. Together, the trio has created a folk sound inspired by the ’60s and a lyrical formula inspired by the natural world around them.
GypsySpark will fill its set with original tracks from the group’s debut album, “World Shakers.” Overall, “World Shakers” is an attractive blend of West Coast and Gulf Coast modern folk with a nod to the classics. Lumpkin’s and Bledsoe’s respective vocals show two sides of GypsySpark’s sound. However, the warm tones that resonate throughout each track is a great constant. With minimal instrumentation used on this album, GypsySpark’s live show should provide a great interpretation of the studio tracks.
