The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi is giving the Gulf Coast a flashback to the glory days of the late ‘80s hair-metal scene. Skid Row will headline the metallic lineup. This New Jersey rock outfit used its self-titled debut to dominate the charts. Singles such as “Youth Gone Wild,” “18 and Life” and “I Remember You” resonated through the airwaves and generated the band an enormous listening audience. For this tour, founding members Rachel Bolan (bass) and Dave “Snake” Sabo have recruited vocalist Z.P. Theart, best known for his work with British metal masters DragonForce.
Getting the crowd pumped for Skid Row will be Stryper, which expertly mingled its Christian faith with a hair-metal sound that attracted listeners from all walks. Donning trademark yellow and black stripes, this band’s metal sound drew criticism from the Christian and secular worlds alike. Any controversy, however, was trumped by Stryper’s dedicated fan base.
