While a majority of blues enthusiasts enjoy the traditional approach to the genre, there are many contemporary musicians who have provided their own interpretation. Harper could be considered one of the more unique. Hailing from Australia, Harper mingles the harp and the didgeridoo to create his sound. Currently, Harper is being backed by a ragtag group of hired guns known as Midwest Kind. Together, they envelop their crowds in a warm blanket of mellow blues, which has earned him a place at Blues Tavern regular for many years.
The live environment is truly the best way to experience Harper. His latest release, “Live at the Blues Museum,” serves as evidence. This collection takes the listener through 16 tracks of heady blues and grooves.
In other news, he recently joined another Blues Tavern favorite in the studio for a collaborative effort. “Bare Bones” lives up to its name with acoustic tracks featuring Harper and Motor City Josh.
