Yosha Populus, the mother of Hiawayi Robinson, was arrested Monday afternoon for probation violation, according to United States Marshal’s Service.
Populus was arrested and booked into Mobile County Metro Jail at 3:23 p.m., after the USMS acted on a federal warrant issued for probation violation.
In 2013, Populus was sentenced to five years probation after pleading guilty to a fraudulent BP oil spill claim, U.S. Marshal Deputy Marcus Malone said.
While USMS said the arrest was not related to the murder investigation of her 8-year-old daughter, they could not release further details about what exactly Populus did to violate probation.
She is expected to remain in jail until her court hearing Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in her daughter’s homicide case.
