Mobile has always mixed charity with good times. The denizens of the Azalea City rarely have a benefit without attaching a party to it.
The Where Y’at Mobile? Inaugural Crawfish Boil could be considered the ultimate benefit. This appropriately named event will bring together some of the greatest musical talent that Mobile and New Orleans has to offer, and 100 percent of ticket sales will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through guitarist/organizer Ben Jernigan’s Men & Women of the Year campaign.
Jernigan is lending his guitar to this event. Keyboardist Chris Spies is also scheduled to make an appearance. Jab’o Starks (James Brown, Bobby “Blue” Bland, B.B. King) will also be performing. Starks had Callaghan’s moving and grooving at his most recent appearance, and Where Y’at, Mobile? should be a repeat.
A who’s-who of NOLA talent will be featured at the event. Anders Osborne, Johnny Sansone and Papa Mali will lead this sonic cavalcade. The crowd will also get to experience the war cries of Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. Gravy will bring some rock into the mix, and Rob Mercurio (Galactic) will supply some low ends with his bass skills. Drummer Terence Higgins will complete this collection.
