Jenny Lewis is returning to the Azalea City with tracks from her latest album, “On the Line,” in hand. This actress-turned-singer-songwriter’s latest effort has been earning praise from the critics and fans alike. For this endeavor, Lewis entered Capitol Records’ Studio B with a production lineup that included Beck and Shawn Everett, who is best known for his work with Alabama Shakes and Kacey Musgraves. Artists ranging from Ringo Starr to Don Was also lent their talents to this ambitious release.
Overall, this album can be described on all levels as a masterpiece of alternative music. Lewis trips across alternative styles of country, folk and rock. The common thread throughout this album is Lewis’ vocal work and poignant lyrics. Lewis delivers a sweet vocal style that embodies a classic ’60s folk aura that has been shaped by life experience. The ethereal production aspect of this release only enhances what is already a great collection of songs.
