Founded in 1988 by principals from the famous Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Leipzig Quartet has carved out their own niche in the classical music world. They won the 1991 ARD International Competition in Munich, the Brüder-Busch Award and the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize.
On American shores, they’ve elicited raves in the Washington Post and New York Times alike, and performed in venues such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie’s Rectial Hall. Now Mobilians have a chance to enjoy them.
This closing show for the 53rd season of the Mobile Chamber Music Society takes place at the University of South Alabama in a space designed especially for such honored musicians.
