For more than three decades, local disk jockey Catt Sirten has hosted “Brown Bag” concerts for the lunchtime crowd. When it began, performances were limited to Bienville Square, but the project has expanded to the Eastern Shore. This month an installment in Fairhope features the homegrown sound of Melissa Joiner.
Joiner’s is a familiar face in the Gulf Coast songwriters’ scene. Her smooth, sultry vocals have echoed from the Azalea City to Destin and beyond. Joiner’s songs are infectious and unforgettable. As the music coordinator for P&O Cruises Australia, Joiner found a global audience. Her expert mix of jazz and blues works well, whether she performs with a full band or solo with her acoustic. According to her website, listeners can expect her first EP later this summer.
