Every dog has its day, and yesterday was Aron’s.
The K-9 officer played a key role in helping to locate 461 grams of marijuana discovered at Motel 6 in Tillman’s Corner on Dec. 8.
According to the Mobile Police Department, the discovery was made during a narcotics and vice operation focusing on hotels and motels along I-10 in Tillman’s Corner.
Accompanied by Cpl. Chris Giattina, Aron gave a final indication of an odor of narcotics coming an unoccupied 2016 Toyota Camry that was discovered in the parking of the Motel 6.
Covalt later gave police consent to search her hotel room, where an additional 281 grams of medical marijuana was found along with and six cannabis oil vapor cartridges. According to records with the Mobile County Jail, Covalt is from Colorado — where voters approved marijuana legalization in 2012.
Covalt was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. As of Wednesday afternoon, she was still listed in the custody of the Mobile County Jail.
