I can’t sit still any longer. Have to congratulate you on the series of articles you have recently published, starting with the U. of Alabama/Steve Flowers issue. I am appalled! (and am an Alabama graduate with two degrees, February 1969). Looks to me like quite a few people need to be in jail somewhere. As the Chicago newspaper reporter, Mike Royko used to say: “The fix is in!”
The same with the Alabama Power coal ash decision. Something smells worse than Limburger Cheese here. It looks like the fix is in on this issue also. Like the issue concerning pollution from Scott Paper (where I spent some tough times 50 years ago!) and International Paper. ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Mischief ???) could not find the paperwork concerning inspections after a careful two-person search??? Sounds like something from the Clinton administration!
Likewise the issue of the State Ethics Commissioner! And the fix, is it in? Of course!
Your column in the August 25 issue about the kids leaving home hit the target for my experience. I live 1200 miles from my two daughters (DC and Annapolis), and now have grandchildren leaving the nest. I had twinges of nostalgia reading about your situation. My granddaughter is beginning classes at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. My daughter lives about a mile from the Academy, so she has four years of transition time.
Hang in there. Don’t think of it as losing a son or daughter. Think of it as gaining a bathroom and some actual quiet time!
Keep the bright light shining, and keep the good stuff coming our way!
