The madness of Mardi Gras leads into the calmness of Lent, and The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm is the perfect place to recuperate after weeks of revelry.
This Silver Hill venue will be easing into spring with a performance from one of Mobile’s favorite sons. Will Kimbrough has become an icon in the singer-songwriter scene with his honest snapshots of life.
Kimbrough will be entertaining the crowd with his latest cuts off of his new release “Sideshow Love.” In the true spirit of the venue, Kimbrough will be joined by a cavalcade of Frog Pond regulars, who will lend their spontaneous musical efforts to the performance.
“Sideshow Love” maintains Kimbrough’s rich legacy as a sonic storyteller. Whether the stories are based in fact or fiction, each song is vignette filled with pure life experience. As in reality, each of Kimbrough’s stories could instantly bring a smile or a tear to the listener’s face.
Kimbrough delves into a variety of genres for the album’s tracks. “When You’re Loving Comes Around” introduces the album with a blues vibe that is both haunting and hypnotic. The enigmatic nature continues with the dark comedy and French Quarter rag of “Home Economics.” While tracks such as these may seem eclectic, Kimbrough also takes on the role of the traditional acoustic troubadour with the ballad “Has Anybody Seen My Heart.”
