Maggie Koerner is part of a contemporary group of New Orleans musicians that includes bands such as The Revivalists and Sweet Crude. She also has charmed established NOLA bands such as Galactic, who featured Koerner as a vocalist on several tour dates. She’s collected a legion of Azalea City fans through her performance at SouthSounds 2014 and as an opener for The Revivalists at last year’s St. Patrick’s Day concert at O’Daly’s.
Since then, Koerner has been touring relentlessly and charming audiences at festivals such as Austin City Limits, Pemberton and The Landing. For this show, she’ll be traveling to the oak-shaded confines of the OGD for an intimate performance at Callaghan’s. With only 60 tickets available, locals will want to act fast to secure a seat.
Koerner is one of those rare vocalists who resonates accuracy, control and purity with each measure, accentuating it with a soulful edge. Koerner effortlessly trips across octaves and successfully mesmerizes her audiences. People unfamiliar with her work can get acquainted through her release “Neutral Ground.” Koerner’s sultry vocal work and poetic lyrics pull the listener into a warm, swaying embrace throughout the album’s nine tracks. What makes her even more impressive is that she pulls off her vocal perfection live just as well as in the studio.
