Did you guys enjoy Labor Day weekend?
I’m sure the only “labor” most of you did was pick up a beer, raise your arm and pour it down your gullet. If so, you are my kind of people! And I love you and want to marry you and have your babies, but I’m pretty sure my ovaries are saturated in Sauza and Schlitz and stopped producing the eggs for our future love children years ago, so we may have to adopt a guinea pig instead. It’s probably for the best. I hear they are slightly less maintenance than children.
Anyway, I picked up a little scoop from the drunken spies this weekend, so I will share it with you now. Enjoy!
Chris Stapleton played at The Amphitheater at The Wharf last Saturday night along with friends Brent Cobb and The Marcus King Band. I hear the show was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish.
I also sent some spies to chronicle the naughtiness but predictably they don’t remember much. What can I say? It’s an occupational hazard!
But they did manage to report some HGTV stars were spotted. How exciting!
No, it wasn’t those “Fixer Upper” people that are nonstop preaching the good word about shiplap. It seems the pride of Laurel, Mississippi (in addition to Lagniappe’s own Andy MacDonald, of course), Ben and Erin Napier, stars of the show “Home Town” were jamming along to the tunes. Erin posted a photo of the couple along with Stapleton on Instagram with a caption that read: “The best weekend ever because of generous friends. Thankful doesn’t cover it.”
The two had a baby girl, who they named Helen, back in January, so perhaps they were thankful for a date night. Or maybe they just needed to get out of Laurel and get their party on.
In any case, as always, a good time was had by all. We think. Again, the spies can’t remember.
Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You
Mobile City Councilman Fred Richardson celebrated his 80th birthday this week! Wow – 80! That’s a big one, and I never would have guessed that, as he sure doesn’t look it. His friends on the council named the day of his birth, Wednesday, Sept. 4, Fred Richardson Day in the city of Mobile. Are citizens hereby encouraged to wear a watch on each wrist as the good councilman does every September 4th? If they didn’t make this part of the proclamation, then that’s a shame!
Anyway, we hope you had a very happy birthday, Councilman Richardson, and also that Mobile Fire Department’s finest were on standby when you blew out your candles.
Well kids, that’s all I got this week. Just remember, whether rain or shine, dramatic or scandalous or some plain ol’ “Home Town” lovin’, I will be there! Ciao!
